Hello, my loyal audience. You may have wondered where I have been the past couple of days. In the interest of longevity, I have decided to give myself weekends off. So no, I did not forget about my blog. Rather, I made a cool, calm, and calculated decision to preserve this habit.

Chinese

Unfortunately, minimal Mandarin was learnt over the weekend. I did, however, play a worrying amount of Black Myth: Wukong with the language set on Chinese. Did I pick up any phrases? No. But I feel like it had to be better than nothing. Agree to disagree.

Project

Over the weekend, I settled on building my chatbot on GPT-2. Firstly, I am using a GPT (Generative Pre-Triained Transformer) architecture, mainly because I do not understand other large language models. Within GPT, I had a few choices. Of course, I could take the easy way out and wait until OpenAI drops the code-free GPTs they announced last November, but where's the fun in that? Realistically it boiled down to a choice of GPT-3.5 and GPT-2. I chose the latter due to its simplistic nature, and the fact that it is open-source means I do not have to go through the OpenAI API.

I imported GPT-2 into Python and have been playing around with it. Updates to follow.

I started on a new book titled The Unfettered Journey, and will have a chapter review soon.

I reached out and scheduled a coffee chat with a person who served as a mentor to me soon after graduation.
